T20 World Cup: Continuing his rich form, Sanju Samson brought up his third consecutive fifty-plus score drawing levels with India great Virat Kohli in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Samson etched his name into the record books by becoming only the third player to score fifties in both the semi-final and final of a T20 World Cup, joining Shahid Afridi (2009) and Virat Kohli (2014). The Indian wicketkeeper-batter paced his innings smartly after Abhishek Sharma’s explosive half-century at the other end.
Samson brought up his fifty off 33 balls, playing a composed knock without needing to force the pace. He began cautiously while keeping the scoreboard ticking before Abhishek shifted gears, helping India race to 137 for 1 in 11 overs.
