Sri Lanka, who were chasing a feeble score of 45, were able to register a 8 wicket win in 7.1 overs. For Sri Lanka, opener Kusala Perera scored an unbeaten 33 off 24 balls with 6 boundaries to ensure the win for his team. With this win, Sri Lanka have finished first in Group A and will now compete in Group 1 in the Super 12 group alongwith West Indies, Bangladesh, England, South Africa & Australia. 

For Netherlands, Brandon Glover and Paul van Meekern picked up 1 wicket each but the score was just too low to defend. Netherlands were already eliminated from the World Cup and have finished last in Group A of Round 1 with 0 wins in 3 matches.

In the first innings, Sri Lankan bowlers dismantled Netherlands batting & restricted them at a score of just 44 runs. For Sri Lanka, Kumara & Hasaranga picked up 3 wickets each. Kumara gave away 7 runs in his 3 overs including a maiden & Hasaranga gave away 9 runs in 3 overs. Maheesh Theekshana picked up 2 wickets while Chameera picked up 1.

For Netherlands, who left out Ryan ten Doeschate in this match, which is their last match in this tournament, only Colin Ackermann scored 11 runs off 9 balls with 1 four & 1 six. None of the other batters' scores is a double digit numerical. 

Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss & elected to bowl first in the last Round 1 match of T20 World Cup 2021. This match is being played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
