Sunrisers Hyderabad Defeat Gujarat Titans By 8 Wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a second consecutive win and broke Gujarat Titans' three-match winning streak in the IPL 2022. SRH defeated GT by eight wickets and five balls to spare. 

Chasing a target of 163, Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson provided a solid start to the run chase, adding 64 runs in 8.5 overs for the opening wicket. Abhishek was the aggressor among the two as he scored 42 in 32 balls with the help of six fours.

After Abhishek got out, Williamson continued with Rahul Tripathi. The duo added 40 runs in 26 balls before Tripathi had to be taken out of the field after suffering a possible hamstring injury. 

Nicholas Pooran joined Williamson at the crease and further added 25 runs with the SRH captain. Williamson got out after scoring 57 in 46 balls but SRH only required a run-a-ball from that position. 

Pooran and Markram comfortably finished the game in the last over to add two more points to the league table. SRH now have four points in four games while GT suffered the first loss of the season. 

Earlier, Hardik Pandya's fifty and a brilliant cameo by Abhinav Manohar got Gujarat to 162/7 in the first inning. 

On being asked to bat first, the Titans got off to a good start despite losing two wickets - Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan - inside the powerplay. Gujarat scored 51 runs in the first six overs. 

GT kept losing wickets at regular intervals but skipped Hardik Pandya looked in complete control from one end. Pandya and Abhinav Manohar added 50 runs in 32 balls for the fifth wicket. Manohar hit 35 in 21 balls before getting out in the penultimate over. Pandya remained unbeaten on 50 from 42 balls as Gujarat finished at 162 in the end. 

For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan took two wickets each.
