Asia Cup 2022 is set to kick off on August 27th in Dubai where the hosts Sri Lanka will clash against Afghanistan in the first match on Saturday. Asia Cup was last played in 2018 in the 50-over format where India lifted the coveted trophy for the 7th time. This time, the tournament will be played among six teams in the 20-over format. 

The most awaited clash would be the India-Pakistan clash which is set to be played on August 28th (Sunday).

Here are the top 5 highest partnerships in Asia Cup since 2010. 


#5. Anshuman Rath & Nizakat Khan (Hong Kong, 174 runs)

In the 4th group match of Asia Cup 2018, Hong Kong were chasing a total of 286 to pull off an upset. Hong Kong openers - captain Anshuman Rath (73) and Nizakat Khan (92) added 174 runs for the first wicket in 34 overs, giving a decent start. However, the run rate was on the lower side which eventually led to halting Hong Kong to 259/8 in 50 over and losing the match by 26 runs. 


#4. Gautam Gambhir & Virat Kohli (India, 205 runs)

After being put in to bat first in the 2nd match of Asia Cup 2012, India lost opener Sachin Tendulkar early on in the 6th over. However, Delhi batters Gautam Gambhir (100) and young Virat Kohli (108) held the crease as these two added 205 runs in 222 balls for the second wicket. Courtesy of this, India posted 304/3 in 50 overs and went on to win the match by 50 runs. 


#3. Shikhar Dhawan & Rohit Sharma (India, 210 runs)

In the India-Pakistan clash in Asia Cup 2018, Pakistan posted a target of 238 in the 3rd match of Super Four. In reply, Indian openers Rohit Sharma (111*) and Shikhar Dhawan (114) added 210 runs for the first wicket in 33.2 overs, laying the foundation for an easy win. India chased down the total in 39.3 overs with 9 wickets in hand. 


#2. Virat Kohli & Ajinkya Rahane (India, 213 runs)

In the 2nd match of Asia Cup 2014, Bangladesh posted a target of 280 runs against India to win. In reply, India were at 54/2 in 13 overs, having lost both the openers. However, middle-order batters Virat Kohli (136) and Ajinkya Rahane (73) etched a partnership of 213 runs in 197 balls for the third wicket. India went on to win the match by 6 wickets, with one over remaining. 


#1. Mohammad Hafeez & Nasir Jamshed (Pakistan, 224 runs)

After opting to bat first against India in the 5th match of Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan were off to a blasting start as openers Mohammad Hafeez (105) and Nasir Jamshed (112) added 224 runs for the first wicket in 35.4 overs. Consequently, Pakistan posted 329/6 in 50 overs. However, Virat Kohli's highest ODI score ever, 183, came in this match as India managed to chase down the total in 47.5 overs, winning the match by 6 wickets.
