Bowling in the shorter format is perhaps a tougher job than most may consider, but in a batter-dominated game, the bowlers' role is equally if not more crucial. Whether a team is trying to restrict the opposition to a total or defending one, the bowlers' nerves decide the outcome of the match when it comes down the bottle.

With the approaching T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and India's successful campaign against West Indies in home T20Is, let's take a look at the top 5 highest wicket-takers among Indian bowlers in T20Is.

#4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (55 Wickets)

India's 'King of Swing' Bhuvneshwar Kumar, is still bowling efficiently in the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies. The right-arm medium bowler has registered 55 wickets in 57 matches. Along with this, Bhuvi also has a 5-wicket haul to his name in T20Is. In the 1st T20I at Johannesburg in 2018 against South Africa, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 5 wickets for just 24 runs in his 4 overs, as India defended a total of 203 and won the match by 28 runs.

#3. Ravichandran Ashwin (61 Wickets)

Indian off-spinner who was called up for the T20 World Cup 2021 after 3 years of absence from the limited-overs format, occupies the 3rd spot on this list with 61 wickets in 51 matches. His best of 4/8 came against Sri Lanka in the 3rd T20I at Vishakhapatnam, where India restricted Sri Lanka to 82/10 in the first innings and chased down the total in 13.5 overs with 9 wickets in hand.

#2. Yuzvendra Chahal (66 Wickets)

India was defending 202 and Chahal's 6 wickets helped India restrict England to 127, winning the match by 75 runs.

#1. Jasprit Bumrah (66 Wickets)

Jasprit Bumrah is atop the list with 66 wickets in 52 matches, at an economy of 6.52 which is better than Chahal's 8.28 and is hence placed first on this list. Bumrah has been a stand-out bowler for India and even on his rare day-offs, he still manages to stop runs which his excellent economy conveys. His best of 3/11 (4 overs) came in the 2nd T20I against Zimbabwe at Harare, where India restricted Zimbabwe to 99/9. India chased down the target in 13.1 overs and won the match by 10 wickets.
