Asia Cup 2022, Super Four -Sri Lanka Beat India By 6 Wickets

IND vs SL: After a tremendous opening partnership by Sri Lanka, a comeback by Indian spinners, and a responsible finish, Sri Lanka defeated India by 6 wickets in the 3rd match of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022. 

Chasing 174, Sri Lankan openers gave a great start as Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis added 97 runs for the 1st wicket in 11 overs. However, Chahal struck with two wickets in the 12th over - Nissanka (52) & Charith Asalanka (0). Ravichandran Ashwin provided Danushka Gunathilaka's (1) wicket in the 14th over.

Chahal then went on to dismiss Kusal Mendis (57) in the next over. However, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and captain Dasun Shanaka etched an unbeaten partnership of _ runs in _ balls for the 5th wicket to take Sri Lanka to a win with 6 wickets remaining. For team India, Chahal picked up 3 wickets while Ashwin managed 1 wicket. 

In the first innings, Courtesy of Rohit Sharma's captain's knock, India were able to post 173/8 against Sri Lanka in a do-or-die match in the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022. 

After India lost two wickets - KL Rahul (6) and Virat Kohli (0) inside the first three overs, Rohit Sharma held the reign of attacking as he kept taking on the Sri Lankan bowlers to keep up the run rate.

Suryakumar Yadav played the anchor and a role he is seldom seen playing in, scoring 34 runs off 29 balls. Surya etched a partnership of 97 runs in 58 balls, in which Rohit smacked 68 runs off just 36 balls. The Indian skipper was finally dismissed in the 13th over by Chamika Karunaratne after scoring 72 runs off just 41 balls, with 5 fours & 4 sixes while striking at 175.61. 

For Sri Lanka, the bowlers displayed an impressive performance as they managed to keep the score below 190 despite Rohit's tremendous knock. Left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka picked up 3 wickets including cleaning up Virat Kohli for a duck, Karunaratne and Dasun Shanaka picked up 2 wickets each while Maheesh Theekshana managed 1 wicket. 

Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss & opted to bowl first against India in the 3rd match of the Super 4 stage in Asia Cup 2022. This match was played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
