Sree Charani Creates History, Attains Highest-Ever Icc Women’s T20I Bowling Rating (Indian Bowler Shree Charani)

India’s left-arm spinner Sree Charani has attained the highest-ever rating points in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, climbing to 817 points in the latest weekly update released on Tuesday.

Charani’s tally is 11 points higher than the previous record of 806, held by Australian seam bowler Megan Schutt, who reached the mark in November 2018.

Charani’s figures of two for 13 in the women’s final at the Asian Games against Sri Lanka helped her consolidate the top position and set the new landmark, while stylish left-handed opener Smriti Mandhana returned to the top five of the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings.

The 30-year-old vice-captain has moved up one slot after striking 79 off 46 deliveries with seven sixes and five fours and adding 99 for the opening stand with Shafali Verma as India notched a Games record total of 216 for three and eventually won by a huge 147-run margin to retain the gold medal.

Her team-mate Richa Ghosh, who struck 49 not out in 22 balls, has moved up three slots to 25th in the latest weekly update that considers performances on the last day of the women’s competition at the Asian Games that also included the match for third place in which Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs to take home the bronze medal.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana’s brisk 45 off 30 deliveries in that match has lifted her four places to 23rd while Aliya Riyaz (up two places to 64th) and Gull Feroza (up six places to 87th) are others from her team to move up the rankings. Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter has progressed 10 places to 35th after scoring 46 off 45.

In the bowling rankings, Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu is back in the top 10 while Bangladesh’s Nahida Akhter (up two places to 29th), Pakistan’s Umm-e-Hani (up 58 places to 51st) and India’s Kranti Gaud (up four places to 53rd) have made notable progress.

In the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has moved up three places to fourth among batters after notching a career-best 182 against Zimbabwe during the ICC Women’s Championship Series, which is the highest ever score by a West Indies woman player.

Zimbabwe captain Modester Mupachikwa has advanced 16 places to a career-best 40th position with scores of 86 and 38 after two matches of the series, which is level 1-1. Her opening partner Kelis Ndhlovu has gone from 61st to 56th position in the list while the bowling rankings see West Indies’ Aaliyah Alleyne move up eight slots to 58th and Ashmini Munisar progress from 107th to 84th.
