T20I Player Rankings: India’s Shafali Verma and Sree Charani, along with Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu, have been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for September 2026 following a month of standout performances across the Women’s Asia Cup and Asian Games.
The three players played key roles for their respective teams during a packed month of T20I cricket, with India winning both the Asia Cup and the Asian Games gold medal, while Sri Lanka reached the finals of both competitions.
Shafali enjoyed a prolific month at the top of India’s order, scoring 360 runs in seven T20Is at an average of 72.00 and a strike rate of 184.61. The 22-year-old also contributed with the ball, claiming six wickets at an average of 13.00 and an economy rate of 4.33. She was the leading run-scorer at the Women’s Asia Cup, accumulating 236 runs in five innings. She scored 64 in the semifinal against Bangladesh before making 68 in the final against Sri Lanka as India secured a record-extending eighth Asia Cup title.
