RIO Olympic 2016 ()
New Delhi, May 3 (Cricketnmore): Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday accepted the Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) offer to become goodwill ambassador of the Indian contingent for the 2016 Olympics at Rio de Janeiro.
Tendulkar now joins Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medallist Abhinav Bindra as the goodwill ambassadors for the Rio-bound contingent.
"I have had the privilege and honour of representing our nation for 24 years and I continue to bat for India off the field. The welfare of sportspersons and encouraging them to give their best is very dear to me," Tendulkar wrote in a letter to IOA after accepting the offer.
