While Quetta lost their first match comprehensively, they made a good comeback in their 2nd match, winning a thriller by 6 runs. While the top order crumbled like a house of cards, Martin Guptill stood sturdy as he smacked 117 runs in 67 balls with 12 fours & 5 sixes, powering Quetta Gladiators to a match-winning total. 

After managing just 1 wicket in their first match, Gladiators grabbed 5 wickets in their second match as Mohammad Hasnain picked up 2 wickets. Naseem Shah was brilliant with the ball as he bowled an excellent 18th over, followed by Hasnain's 19th over which eventually helped Quetta stay ahead in the dying moments of the match. Naseem, Mohammad Nawaz and Qais Ahmed managed 1 wicket each. 

Peshawar Zalmi on the other hand started off PSL 8 with a win but were brutally thrashed in their 2nd game. Tom Kohler-Cadmore starred with the bat in the first match, smacking 92 runs off 50 balls, along with Babar Azam who scored 68 runs in 46 deliveries. Both of them were dismissed for a single-digit score in the 2nd game which proved costly for Peshawar in a high run-chase. Peshawar's #3, Saim Ayub displayed some exceptional shots as the left-hander scored 53 runs off 37 balls in a losing cause. Opener Mohammad Haris also scored 40 runs in 23 balls with a four & 4 sixes. 

Salman Irshad has picked up 3 wickets for Peshawar Zalmi and is their highest wicket-taker with the bowling unit yet to realize their full potential. James Neesham and Wahab Riaz have picked up 2 wickets each while Sufiyan Muqeem has managed 1 wicket.
