Hardik Pandya's sensational fifty followed by a wicket helped Gujarat Titans defeat Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs in the 24th match of the IPL 2022 played at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.
Chasing 193, the Royals got off to a mixed start as they hammered 65 runs inside the powerplay but also lost three wickets. Devdutt Padikkal got out on a golden duck and R Ashwin was promoted up the order and scored 8 in 8 balls. It was Jos Buttler that played most of the powerplay and hit 54 in 24 balls with the help of eight and three sixes.
The three wickets - two inside Lockie Ferguson's over - pushed RR on the back foot and the pressure of the scoring rate made them lose wickets at regular intervals. Shimron Hetmyer looked dangerous for a while during his 29 in 17 balls knock but couldn't take the game deep.
