Umran Malik has been one of the best emerging talents of the IPL 2022. The 22-year-old Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler was being hyped up for his raw pace from the last season and finally, after five-six IPL games, Umran arrived at the big stage in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders when he took two wickets.

His spell of 2/27 got a lot of appreciation for bowling as per the field and controlling the ball despite clocking speeds at over 150 kmph. It was the beginning of Umran finally getting his rhythm and control right.

In the game against Gujarat Titans, Umran had the perfect game. He came in the eighth over of the game and broke the 69-run stand of Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha on his fourth ball only. He got Gill out bowled, at a speed of 144 kmph.

Umran then welcomed the new batter, Hardik Pandya, with a 145 kmph bouncer that struck the Gujarat captain's shoulder. Pandya was in serious pain and took a bit of time to restart his inning.

In the next over, Umran got his second wicket as he once again bowled a bouncer to Pandya and he got a top edge while attempting to pull the short ball.

Umran was brought back in the 14th over and he got a well-set Wriddhiman Saha out on the second ball with a rocket yorker that touched the speed of 153. Saha, who was playing at 68, couldn't have done much about that ball.

In the next over, Umran got the danger man David Miller out with another 147 kmph delivery that shattered the stumps. On the next ball, Abhinav Manohar, who was playing his first ball, failed to put his bat on the ball as Umran once again made a mess of the stumps to complete his maiden five-wicket haul in the IPL.

It was a dreamy spell that almost won the match for Sunrisers Hyderabad until Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia pulled off a heist to win the game on the last ball of the run chase. However, Umran's spell wasn't overshadowed and he got his well-deserved player of the match despite being on the losing side.
