After conceding a defeat in the super over in the 1st T20I, hosts New Zealand came back strongly to win the 2nd game by 9 wickets. Chasing 142 runs to win, openers Chad Bowes and Tim Seifert etched an opening partnership of 40 runs in 3.2 overs, when Bowes was dismissed for 32 runs n 15 balls. From thereon, Tim Seifert took over as he remained unbeaten on 79 runs in 43 balls, taking the Kiwis home with 9 wickets in hand. Captain Tom Latham remained unbeaten on 20 runs in 30 balls on the other end. Adam Milne was the top bowler for the hosts as he picked up a 5-fer to bowl out Sri Lanka for 141 runs in 19 overs. Ben Lister picked up 2 wickets while Henry Shipley, Rachin Ravindra and James Neesham managed 1 wicket each.
