WPL 2023 Final: Nat Sciver Brunt stepped up with the bat yet again as Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in a low scoring thriller, winning the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League.
Chasing 132 runs to win the title, Mumbai Indians lost Yastika Bhatia (4) and Hayley Matthews (13) inside the powerplay. Delhi Capitals spotted a comeback window, but then MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and all-rounder Nat Sciver Brunt firmly held the crease to stabilize the team in a tight run chase.
Harmanpreet and Nat added 72 runs off 74 balls for the 2nd wicket, before the skipper was dismissed by a run out in the 17th over. Harmanpreet scored 37 runs off 39 balls. However, Nat Sciver kept going sturdly at the other end, and adding runs at a slow yet necessary pace. With 21 runs required off the final two overs, Nat Sciver started the 19th over with a boundary against Jess Jonassen.
