Daniel Sams managed pull off a sensational last over to defend nine runs and help Mumbai Indians to beat Gujarat Titans by five runs in the match 51 of the IPL 2022 played at Brabourne Stadium. 

Chasing a target of 178, GT were off to a flyer as Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill added 106 runs 12.1 overs for the opening wicket to set up the run chase. Where Saha scored 55 off 40 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes, Gill hit 52 in 36 balls including six fours and two sixes.

Murugan Ashwin's double strike in the 13th over saw both Gill and Saha going back to pavillion. But Gujarat were still in the game with Hardik Pandya at the crease. Sai Sudarshan got hit wicket while Pandya and Rahul Tewatia got run out that kept Mumbai interested. 

Despite David Miller at the crease in the last over, Sams kept changing the pace and the South African couldn't connet as Gujarat fell short by five runs. 
Contributions from Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Tim David helped Mumbai Indians score 177/6 in the first inning. 

On being asked to bat first, MI openers smashed 74 runs in 7.4 overs for the opening wicket including 63 runs inside the powerplay. Rohit was the aggressor as he scored 43 off 28 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Ishan continued with the momentum and scored 45 off 29 balls including five fours and a six.

Gujarat came back in the middle overs courtesy of Rashid Khan's 2/24 in four overs and support act from the rest of the bowlers. With MI's middle order not contributing much, Tim David had the responsibility to give the team a proper finish and he did just that, smacking 44 from 21 balls with the help of four sixes and two fours.
