Marvan Atapattu quits as Sri Lanka head coach ()
Colombo, September 3 - Following two back-to-back Test series losses at home, Sri Lanka head coach Marvan Atapattu has resigned, a statement from the country's cricket board said on Thursday.
"We would like to inform you of the resignation of Marvan Atapattu from the post of head coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team which has been accepted," Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement.
Atapattu took charge as the head coach in October 2014. The 44-year-old served as the team's batting coach from 2011 and as interim head coach for a brief period from April 2014 after Paul Farbrace's departure.
