ENG vs NZ 2nd Test: Explosive England batter, Jonny Bairstow played a match-winning knock with the bat against New Zealand in the 2nd test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, and scripted history with his century. Bairstow faced 92 deliveries and with the help of 14 fours and 7 sixes, plundered 136 runs.

During this knock, Jonny Bairstow completed his century in 77 deliveries, and this is the second-fastest century ever in a 4th innings of test match history. Gilbert Jessop has the record for the fastest century in the 4th innings with his ton off 76 balls against Australia in 1902 at The Oval.

Apart from this, this is the second-fastest ton by any English batter in international tests. For his wonderful knock, Bairstow was adjudged the 'Player of the Match' as well. 

It is noteworthy that in the second, England defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets and built an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match test series. New Zealand were bowled out for 284 in their second innings and with a 14-run lead in the first innings, England had a target of 299 runs to win in 70 overs. The home team chased down the total in mere 50 overs with 5 wickets in hand.
