Jofra Archer Ruled Out Of England's 2022 Season

England's star fast bowler Jofra Archer will continue to remain unavailable for selection for the upcoming season after being diagnosed with a lower back stress fracture. 

"After being diagnosed with a stress fracture to the lower back, England seamer Jofra Archer has been ruled out for the rest of the season," the official statement from ECB said.

"No timeframe has been set for his return. A management plan will be determined following further specialist opinion over the coming days," the statement added. 

Archer has been out of action since March 2021 after undergoing elbow surgery. However, Archer was making good progress to make a comeback this season. The fast bowler was seen training with the England Test team in Barbados. 

Now with the news of his newly diagnosed lower back stress fracture, Archer's chances of making it to the England T20 World Cup squad that will fly to Australia in October are also done and dusted. 

Apart from the T20 format, England is majorly missing him in the Tests. There have been severe changes happened in England's test squad including a change in the management and captain. Archer has been a massive miss in the last few months, especially in Australia where England lost the Ashes 4-0.

Apart from the international season, Archer's injury will also shake things a little in Indian Premier League(IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians, who bought him for INR 8 Crore in the auction even though the England fast bowler was ruled out of the 2022 season beforehand. MI was confident about him playing in the IPL 2023 but with another setback, what will be the next course of action for the five-time champions.
