Even though Ireland lost the first T20I, a silver lining for them was Harry Tector with the bat. After explosive batters like Paul Stirling and skipper Andrew Balbirinie were dismissed inside the first two over, Harry held the crease as he smacked an unbeaten 64 runs off 33 deliveries with 6 fours & 3 sixes to take the team to a fightable total of 108 in 12 overs. 

Craig Young was the only bowler who troubled the Indian batters as he picked up wickets of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in consecutive deliveries to put India in a spot of bother. Apart from him, only one other Irish bowler managed a wicket - Joshua Little. 

Due to an injury, while fielding, Ruturaj Gaikwad was replaced by Deepak Hooda to open the innings and Hooda smacked an unbeaten 47 runs off 29 balls to take the Indian side to victory Opener Ishan Kishan also looked in an explosive mood with 26 runs off 11 deliveries including 3 fours & 2 sixes before he was dismissed in the 3rd over. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a golden duck in his comeback match and would be eyeing a good innings to present his contention for the Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2022. 

In the bowling department, all the bowlers bowled well enough as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 1 wicket each. Chahal was also adjudged player of the match for his 1-11 in 3 overs. However, debutant Umran Malik had a forgettable outing as he went for 14 runs in the one over he bowled.
