RCB vs MI: After being put in to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted a total of 171 runs on the board while and managed to set a target of 172 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 5th match of the Indian Premier League 2023. Even though RCB bowlers were rather impressive in this outing, there was a slight heartbreak for the Bangalore fans early on in the innings.
Playing his debut IPL match, pacer Reece Topley made a good start but after bowling 2 overs, was unable to continue on the field. To save a few runs for his new franchise, Reece Topley attained a shoulder injury. This incident happened on the 3rd delivery of the 8th over. Bowler Karn Sharma bowled a tossed-up delivery on the leg side to Tilak Varma, who stepped down the track and glanced it towards fine leg.
Reece Topley got across to his left and dived to stop the ball. However, he landed awkwardly on his right shoulder and immediately looked to be in a lot of pain. Moments later, Topley walked off the field while having a chat with the RCB physio. Earlier, Topley had grabbed an important wicket in the form of Cameron Green and conceded 14 runs in his 2 overs.
