Debutant Jason Roy and captain Kane Williamson guided Sunrisers Hyderabad to a seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in the 40th match of IPL 2021 on Monday in Dubai.

Chasing a target of 165, Roy smashed RR bowlers all over the ground as SRH smashed 63 inside the powerplay. His partner, Wridhiman Saha, supported him well with his 11-ball-18 but got out in the fifth over.

Roy continued to smash the bowlers while Williamson anchored his way to a 57 run partnership for the second wicket to perfectly set the game in favor of Hyderabad.

The Englishman hit 60 off 42 with the help of eight fours and a six before edging one to the keeper off Chetan Sakariya. Priyam Garg, who replaced Manish Pandey today, scored a golden duck to give some hope to Rajasthan, but Abhishek Sharma grabbed his opportunity to finish the game.

Abhishek and Williamson added 48 from 33 to complete the run chase in the 19th over, as SRH recorded their second win of the season.

Earlier, Rajasthan opted to bat first and started well in the powerplay, scoring 49 despite losing Evin Lewis early. Yashaswi Jaiswal once again got off to a terrific start as he hit 36 off 23 with the help of five fours and a six.

Jaiswal added 56 with captain Sanju Samson for the second wicket to build a platform for the rest of the batters. However, Jaiswal and Liam Livingstone got out in succession as Hyderabad came back in the game.

Mahipal Lomror gave good support to his captain Samson, who had now started playing aggressively. The two added 84 runs in 55 balls to take RR's total above the par score. However, the Royals couldn't finish well as Sidharth Kaul picked two wickets in the last over to restrict the score to 164/5.
