In the 51st match of IPL 2021, Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets, more importantly, finished the match in just 8.2 overs.
With this win, MI has kept its playoff hopes alive after strengthening the net run rate and getting up to the fifth spot with 12 points, tied with Kolkata Knight Riders. RR, on the other hand, is more or less out of the contention from playoffs. Punjab Kings, too, is relying on mathematics to go in its way for an outside chance to sneak into the playoffs.
For Mumbai to qualify, KKR either needs to lose against Rajasthan and MI to win against SRH. If Kolkata manages to win against RR, MI will need to either chase down the target with 11 overs to spare or win by a margin of more than 48 runs.
