In their first match of the ongoing World Cup against Pakistan, team India came on top in a thriller, winning the match by 7 wickets. Chasing 150 runs to win, Shafali Verma gave a decent start at the top with her 33 runs off 25 balls. In the absence of Smriti Mandhana, #3 Jemimah Rodrigues played the match-winner role, smacking an unbeaten 53 runs off 38 balls. Richa Ghosh also contributed with 31* runs as India chased down the target with 1 over remaining. 

Spinner Radha Yadav was India's best bowler in the match, picking up 2 wickets for just 21 runs in his 4 overs. Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar also managed 1 wicket each while Renuka Singh and Rajeshwari Gayakwad went wicketless. 

West Indies on the other hand received a 7-wicket thrashing against England in their first match of the tournament. With the help of captain, Hayley Matthew's 32-ball-42 runs knock and Shemaine Campbell's 37-ball-34 runs, West Indies were able to post 135 runs. No fireworks from the middle order made sure Windies couldn't capitalize on the good start they got. 

Bowlers were thrashed relentlessly while defending 136 runs and none of them managed to maintain an economy of even below 7. Chinelle Henry picked up 2 wickets for 30 runs in 3.3 overs while Afy Fletcher picked up 1 wicket and was the only other wicket-taker for the Windies.
