Team India took a lot of positives from the win in the first T20I. Ishan Kishan looked uncomfortable against West Indies but came out all guns blazing against Sri Lanka in the first T20I, scoring 89 runs in 56 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Shreyas Iyer held the #3 batting position well and displayed his impeccable finishing skills with an unbeaten 57 runs off 28 balls after starting off really slow. Sanju Samson didn't get a chance to bat and would be hoping to cash on this rare opportunity. 

Ravindra Jadeja failed to leave a mark with the bat at #4, but managed to pick a wicket on his comeback. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was standout bowler for the night with a wicket off the very first ball of Sri Lankan innings and finishing with 9/2 in his 2 overs at an economy of 4.50. Venkatesh Iyer also picked up 2 wickets bowling in the death but was expensive as he gave away 36 runs in his 3 overs. Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel went wicketless and would be looking to change that in the 2nd T20I. 

Sri Lankan team looked less than their opposition in all three departments of the game. Missing their key players, Lankans were dominated by the Indians throughout the match. Charith Asalanka scored 53 runs in as many as 47 balls to remain the top scorer for his team, while none of the other 7 batters were able to cross the 25-run mark. 

While in bowling, all 6 Lankan bowlers went for plenty. Jayawickrama had the best economy among his teammates in the match - 7.50 while Karunaratne was smacked for 46 runs in his 4 overs, without a wicket. Lahiru Kumara and captain Dasun Shanaka were the only Lankan bowlers with a wicket to their name.
