Team India are set to take on Australia in the 4th Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, looking to clinch the series 3-1 and confirm qualification for WTC Finals.

IND vs AUS 4th Test: Match Preview:

After thrashing Australia in the first two Tests inside 3 days each, the hosts suffer a setback as the visitors defeated them inside 3 days in the third Test at Indore. Apart from a century from Rohit Sharma in the first Test and Cheteshwar Pujara's valiant knock in the 3rd Test, the Indian top order has failed to fire. The likes of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer & Virat Kohli would need to step up to help India cement their place in the World Test Championship finals. The lower order, comprising of Axar Patel, Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja has been solid for India in the BGT 2023 series. 

Ravindra Jadeja has been the top wicket-taker for team India with 21 wickets to his name with a 5-wicket haul. Ravichandran Ashwin has grabbed 18 wickets while Mohammed Shami, who was rested in the 3rd Test, has picked up 7 wickets in 2 matches. 

Australian batters on the other hand didn't manage to stand their ground in the first two Tests but made a decent comeback in the 3rd Test to put themselves in contention of drawing the series, as well as confirming their spot in the WTC finals. Marnus Labuschagne has been the top scorer for the visitors with 178 runs in 3 matches, followed by southpaw opener Usman Khawaja (153 runs). Travis Head was excellent in the absence of David Warner as his unbeaten 49* took Australia to an easy chase in the 2nd innings. 

Spinner Nathan Lyon has been the top wicket-taker for the Australian team and was also the 'Player of the Match' in the 3rd Test. Lyon has grabbed 19 wickets in the series, while Todd Murphy has registered 11 wickets including his 7-wicket haul in the first innings of the 1st Test. Matthew Kuhnemann also registered a 5-wicket haul in the 3rd Test and has 8 wickets to his name in this series till now.
