Aus A vs Ind A: Have Never Faced A Pink Ball Before, Says Green Ahead Of D/N Warm up Game

Australia all-rounder Cameron Green, who smashed a century against India 'A' in the first warm-up game at the Drummoyne Oval, said on Wednesday he is looking forward to the second day-night warm-up against the touring Indians at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) to get an idea of the pink-ball, with which he hasn't played at all.

"I have never actually faced it before, for whatever reason I keep dodging the day-night games in domestic cricket," Green told reporters.

"I have a training session and it will be the first time I have ever faced it or bowled with the pink ball. That will be pretty interesting. There are a lot guys in the team who have played with the pink ball before. So I try and bounce as many ideas off those guys as I can.

"A few guys say if you are batting at night but are already in, it seems like it's OK. It's just when you are new to the crease that it's very tough to get yourself in," he added.

The 21-year-old has made a case for himself for the first Test although he says he is still unsure if he will get a chance. He says that he will look to perform in the next warm-up and let selectors decide on it.

The all-rounder admitted that the only place vacant in the team is the opening slot where he doesn't bat. "It is a really hard team to break into. It is settled barring the top, a position I am not vying for, all I can do is make myself available."

Green, who has had to do restricted bowling over the past few months due to workload management, added that his body feels good now. However, he bowled just eight overs in the first innings and four in the second.

"Body feels really good. I have been looked after with how many overs I can bow, with the restrictions obviously...I am on track with bowling...we had this plan 2-3 months ago regardless of what competition we were playing, Scorchers or Shield cricket around this time, so that is what I have been doing. It has been on track," said Green.

However, he said that there is still time before he can bowl as a regular bowler for his team.

"I will have to sit with the guys and look at how my workload will be going forward. But as of now, for the next couple of weeks, it is pretty similar. Then we will reassess after that," he said.

Green says he wants to avoid media.

"You read nice articles about yourself but people say you are not as good as what they say and when you read a bad article, you are never as bad as they say. So trying to avoid as much as I can. I have a good family, friends group who can keep you grounded. Unfortunately, I can't see them obviously. That has been the hardest challenge. So nice group of guys here, who can keep you grounded," he said as he eyes the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which begins on December 17 and will be broadcast live on Sony Ten 3 and Sony Six channels from 8.30 am.
