IND v SL: Bowlers' Day Out At Bangalore; Sri Lanka Struggling At 86/6

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test: 16 wickets fell on day 1 of the pink ball test match.

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test: A bowling-friendly pitch saw 16 wickets falling on day 1 of the pink ball Test at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. 

India won the toss and opted to bat first and brought Axar Patel back in the playing XI. 

India didn't have a great start as they lost Mayank Agarwal with a freak dismissal. Rohit Sharma was looking good as long as the pace bowlers were on the charge. However, Rohit got out defending a ball from Lasith Embuldeniya. 

Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli looked in brilliant touch and added 47 runs in 102 balls for the third wicket. But things began turning massively in the last half an hour of the session. 

Vihari got out on 31 and soon Virat Kohli followed him for 23 - both on spinners. 

Rishabh Pant got out scoring quick 39 runs off 26 balls with 7 boundaries. Embuldeniya dismissed Pant and then went on to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja, who wasn't dismissed by the Lankans in the last 5 innings, just 4 overs later. 

Dhananjaya de Silva managed to dismiss Ravichandran Ashwin (13) while Suranga Lakamal, who is playing his last match for Sri Lanka finally got his first wicket as he bowled Axar Patel. Mohammad Shami (5) was the next to depart as Dhananjaya de Silva picked his second wicket. 

Iyer helped India pull back things for the team as he smacked 92 runs off 98 balls with 10 fours & 6 sixes. He was the last batter to get dismissed, missing a well-deserved century by 8 runs as Jayawickrama finished with 3 wickets.

While Sri Lankans dominated with spin, India troubled the visitors with pace in the third session. Jasprit Bumrah got early wickets and Shami followed it up with two more wickets as Sri Lanka struggled at 28/4. 

The first casualty caused by spin was by Axar Patel in the 18th over when he removed Charith Asalanka when he along with Angelo Mathews were looking to build a partnership. 

Niroshan Dickwella and Mathews tried safely to take Sri Lanka till the end of the day but Bumrah was brought back in the day for a quick spell and he did the trick for India. Mathews edged one to the slips as Sri Lanka lost the sixth wicket. 

Dickwella and Lasith Embuldeniya finished the day with a score of 86/6.
