ICC to invite Ireland as Australia's replacement in U-19 World Cup 2016 ()
Dubai, 5 January - The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday said it was disappointed with Australia's withdrawal from this month's ICC Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh for security reasons, and invited Ireland to replace the three-time champions.
Cricket Australia (CA) earlier in the day announced that it has withdrawn from the 11th edition of the 16-nation tournament to be held in Bangladesh from January 27.
It said "the advice from our government suggests that the security threat to Australians travelling to Bangladesh remains as high now as it was when we postponed the Test team’s tour of that country late last year (in October)".
