Here's How Devon Conway Has Been Practicing To Face Indian Bowlers In WTC Finals

India and New Zealand are set to play the inaugural World Test Championship(WTC) final in Southampton, England from 18th June. 

The Kiwis have added young Devon Conway to their Test squad after his impressive limited-overs debut in the home season earlier this year. It will be the first time Conway will be facing an Indian attack and that too in a test match. 

To simulate match conditions, the middle-order batter has been sprinkling kitty litter on the practice wickets which will help him in countering the likes of R Ashwin. 

Kitty litter is granulated clay which absorbs waste products of pets like cat or dogs.

“Basically the idea is to get the ball to sort of spit out of the rough,” Conway said. 

“It’s a bit harder to play, but good practice. It’s about finding a game plan to combat that and just practice how you’re going to play in the game. When it does roughen up and the ball does spit and turn a lot, it’s all about being positive,” he added. 

Conway, a hard-hitting batter, said he won't be relying too much on his defense and will look to attack the spinners. 

“If you’re going to look to just defend throughout, at some point there might be a ball that’s going to have your number.”
