RR vs RCB IPL 2022: Sometimes when a franchise releases its players, they come back to haunt them with a new franchise. Devdutt Padikkal came with the intent to score against his former teammate and prove his worth, and scored a wonderful six on the second ball he faced in his inning!

On the 3rd ball of the second over, being bowled by Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj, Devdutt Padikkal was on strike as Rajasthan Royals' opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in the very first over. After playing the first ball dot, DDP picked the juicy half volley off his legs against his former teammate Mohammad Siraj and flicked it for an effortless six over backward square leg. 

The 21-year old left-handed opener has played 29 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore in his IPL career prior to joining Rajasthan Royals and registered 884 runs to his name with an average of 31.57 striking at 125.03, with 6 fifties to his name along with a century. 

After the top order batter was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore, Padikkal was bid upon by four teams including RCB and was ultimately sold to Rajasthan Royals for 7.75 crores INR. However, Padikkal was dismissed by Harshal Patel on the last ball of the 10th over and the batter departed after scoring 37 runs in 29 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. 

While talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss & opted to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals in the 13th match of IPL 2022. While writing this piece, RR are at 80/2 at the end of 11 overs. Jos Buttler (33*) and Sanju Samson (1*) are at the crease for the Royals while David Willey and Harshal Patel have managed 1 wicket each for RCB.
