The inaugural season of the women's Indian Premier League is likely to be played in March 2023 as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently in discussion with other boards for participation.
While there is no official update regarding the commencement of the tournament but the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has, on several occasions, made his intentions clear regarding the WIPL happening in 2023 in the recent past.
BCCI recently hosted the exhibition three-team series - Women's T20 Challenge squeezed between the playoffs of the men's IPL. Despite that, the WT20 Challenge got a decent turnout and viewership, marking some positive responses and interest from the viewers.
