BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya in stable condition

Kolkata, September 18 - Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya, who was admitted to hospital after he complained of chest pain is now stable, doctors said here on Friday.The 75-year-old was admitted to the city's B.M. Birla Hospital on Thursday night.

"There was a clot which has been removed, and his condition has improved. He is in a stable condition now and he will be closely monitored for next 72 hours,a Dalmiya's attending doctor told mediaperson's here.

"He complained of severe chest pain and now has been put in the Intensive Care Unit, doctors are constantly monitoring his condition. He was brought in around 9 pm today (Thursday)," a hospital spokesperson had told IANS on Thursday night.

In a medical bulletin, later it was later revealed that Dalmiya underwent coronary angiography."Multiple lesions were observed with total occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery," it was said in the bulletin.

It also mentioned that he was brought to the hospital almost six hours after the onset of chest pain.Reports also said that he has spoken to his family members who were visiting him.

The veteran cricket administrator has not been keeping well for a while now and was not actively taking part in the day-to-day functioning of the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India.

When Dalmiya was being hospitalised, his son Abhishek Dalmiya was reportedly by his side. Later Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) officials including former India captain and CAB joint secretary Sourav Ganguly and treasurer Biswaroop Dey rushed to the private hospital.

West Bengal sports minister Arup Biswas, too, visited the hospital.

Dalmiya took over the reins of the BCCI for a second time in March, after a gap of 10 years, when he got a walkover in the elections.But he has been ailing since then, and his health has deteriorated further over the last few weeks.
