Dhaka, Jan 31 (Cricketnmore): Bangladesh Under-19 spinner Sanjit Saha was on Sunday banned from bowling with the International Cricket Council (ICC) finding his action to be illegal. As result, he will not be bowling anymore in the ongoing U-19 World Cup on his home turf.

The 18-year-old off-spinner would be barred from bowling in any international cricket, said an ICC report. The news came as a big blow to Bangladesh as Sanjit was one of their best assets in the bowling department, playing a key role in the U-19 team's recent successes, a news agency reported.

He was reported for illegal action on Wednesday in Bangladesh's first match of the tournament against South Africa. The team management, however, was informed by the ICC on Saturday night so the youngster was sidelined in their match against Scotland on Sunday.

The ICC review panel conducted a video analysis, confirming that Sanjit's arm far exceeded the 15-degree limit in some cases. So, it is unnecessary for him to undergo an action test at the moment to prove otherwise.

As per rules, he will have to amend his action before submitting to an assessment at an ICC-accredited testing centre.
