The 2023 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is scheduled to start on January 6th with the game between Chattogram Challengers and defending champions Comilla Victorians. As many as 7 teams will participate in the league stage in a round-robin format, where the top 4 teams will make it to the knockouts.
A total of 46 games (42 in the group stage and 4 playoffs) will be played in BPL 2023, hosted by three venues. Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka will host all 4 playoff matches including the all-important final on February 16th, 2023. The other two venues will be Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Under the captaincy of Imrul Kayes, Comilla Victorians won in the last season of the BPL with a win in the last ball thriller against Shakib Al Hasan's Fortune Barishal. Ace West Indies' all-rounder Sunil Narine was adjudged the 'Player of the Match' for his knock of 57 runs in 23 balls along with two important wickets in the form of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo.
