Axar Patel Replaces Kuldeep Yadav In Squad For 2nd Test Against Sri Lanka

India vs Sri Lanka: Spinning allrounder Axar Patel has been added to India's squad for the second test match against Sri Lanka, which will be played with the pink ball at Bengaluru. 

Reportedly, Axar has replaced Kuldeep Yadav, who has been released from the squad after the win in Mohali. 

Axar was recovering from a shin injury and had been out of the squad for over a month. To add to the woes, Patel also tested positive of covid-19 ahead of the West Indies T20Is. 

Now fit, Axar will be back in the squad replacing Kuldeep, who was a backup for him in the test squad. 

"Axar was the first choice but had to undergo recovery and hence Kuldeep was a backup. Now Axar is fit and back so Kuldeep has been released," a BCCI official said as quoted by Times Of India. 

India currently lead the two-match test series 1-0 after beating Sri Lanka by an inning and 222 runs in the Mohali Test, which was also marked Virat Kohli's 100th game of the format and Rohit Sharma's first as test captain.
