After losing a thriller game against Pakistan, India will be up against Sri Lanka in a must win match on September 6, Tuesday in Dubai International Stadium.
In the Super Four match India came to bat after losing the toss, where batters batted well and scored a challenging total of 181/7 against Pakistan. India got a positive start as KL Rahul (28 runs in 20 balls) & Rohit Sharma (28 runs in 16 balls) partnered 51 runs in just 5.1 overs. After they fell, star batter Virat Kohli played a defining knock of 60 runs in 44 balls. Other batters also made runs but wasn’t able to convert their innings into a biggy.
For Pakistan none of the bowler went wicket-less as Shadab Khan scalped two wickets, Naseem, Hasnain, Rauf, and Nawaz took one-one wicket each.
Chasing a challenging total in a flat batting surface, batter Mohammad Rizwan did what was expected from him. After Babar Azam sent to pavilion in the fourth over by Bishnoi, Rizwan played a amazing knock of 71 runs in 51 balls. Pakistan changed their tactic and sent all-rounder Nawaz up to the batting order where the batter scored 42 runs in 20 balls and set the stage for his team.
In the end Kushdil Shah (14 of 11) & Asif Ali (16 of 8) seized the game for Pakistan and also levelled the score against India in Asia Cup 2022.
India will be playing against Sri Lanka in a must win match, where Rohit & company would be willing to take charge against the Lankan lions, who won their Super 4 match against Afghanistan by four wickets.
Sri Lankan batting performed well against Afghanistan. Kusal Mendis (36 runs of 19 balls), Pathum Nissanka (35 runs in 28 balls), and Gunathilaka (33 runs of 20 balls) were the leading run scorers. Earlier, Dilshan Madushanka (2/37), Theekshana (1/29), and Asitha Fernando (1/34) went well with the bowl for Sri Lanka.
