In the last match of the Super 4 stage on September 9th, Pakistan were handed a 5-wicket defeat by the in-form Sri Lankan team. The Pakistani batting was exposed after Mohammad Rizwan (14) was dismissed early on in the 4th over while batting first. Captain Babar Azam, still searching for form, made a scratchy 30 runs off 29 balls with 2 fours. 

However, Babar still remained the top scorer, as only one other batter was able to cross the 25-run mark. Mohammad Nawaz scored 26 runs off 18 balls with a four & 2 sixes to take Pakistan across the 120-run mark. 

The bowlers didn't have much to defend and despite grabbing two early wickets inside the first three overs, and 3 wickets overall in the powerplay, the bowlers couldn't bowl out a spirited Lankan side. Mohammad Hasnain and Haris Rauf picked up 2 wickets each while Usman Qadir managed 1 wicket. However, pace sensation Naseem Shah was rested in the Super 4 match and can surprise the Lankan batters in the final of the Asia Cup 2022.

Sri Lanka were off to a horrible start while chasing 122 against Pakistan, losing Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka inside the powerplay for a duck. However, opener Pathum Nissanka held one end as he smacked an unbeaten 55 runs off 48 balls to take the Lankan side to their 4th straight win in the ongoing tournament. 

Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was the star with the ball as he grabbed three important wickets to halt Pakistan to a low total. Maheesh Theekshana and debutant Pramod Madushan grabbed 2 wickets each while Dhananjaya de Silva and Chamika Karunaratne managed 1 wicket each.
