Allround Velocity Cruise To A 7 Wicket Win Over Supernovas

Shafali Verma's fastest fifty trumps Harmanpreet Kaur's 71.

A complete dominating performance from Velocity helped them cruise to a seven-wicket win against Supernovas in the 2nd match of the Women's T20 Challenge 2022 played at MCA Stadium, Pune. 

Chasing a target of 151, Shafali Verma gave a perfect start to the team despite losing Natthakan Chantham early in the inning. Shafali, along with Yastika Bhatia, smacked 60 runs inside the powerplay. 

The duo's 63-run stand came to an end in the eighth over when Yastika got out on 17. Two overs later, Shafali too got out but in the meantime, she scored the fastest fifty in the Women's T20 challenge history in 30 balls with the help of nine fours and a six. 

Shafali's wicket brought Supernovas back into the game but Laura Wolvaardt didn't let things slip as she added 71 runs in the next 52 balls with captain Deepti Sharma to finish the game in the 19th over. Wolvaardt remained unbeaten on 51 off 35 balls which included seven fours and a six. Deepti, on the other end, remained not out on 24. 

Earlier, Velocity wrecked havoc in Supernovas' top order, reducing them to 3/18 inside first four overs after opting to bowl first. Harmanpreet Kaur and Taniya Bhatia rebuilt the inning with an 82-run stand in 63 balls for the fourth wicket. 

Taniya scored 36 in 32 balls before getting run out in the 15th over. Harmanpreet smacked 71 in 51 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes. Sune Luus helped Supernovas reach the 150-run mark with a 14-ball 20.
