Feb.2 (CRICKETNMORE) - Australia's top-order batsman Aaron Finch has been ruled out of the Twenty20 tri-series opener against New Zealand after failing to recover from a hamstring injury.

"He went through some run-throughs yesterday with the medical staff, he said he sort of felt it a little bit," skipper David Warner said of Finch.

He added, "We didn't want to risk him going into this tri-series with this first game. He's going to be on ice definitely."

The tri-series involving Australia, New Zealand and England will begin from Saturday.

Uncapped opener D'Arcy Short might fill the void for him, reports Cricket.com.au.
