2014 ICC World Twenty20 Overview

The much awaited 2014 ICC World Twenty20 will be the fifth edition of this popular cricket competition. This year the event is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh between 16 March to 6 April 2014.

The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 will have a total of 35 matches. All the matches will be played in three cities of Bangladesh — Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet.

Format

Total of 16 teams would be categorized into 2 groups of 8 each. Each group will have 5 full member International Cricket Council teams and 3 of the 6 qualifying associate ICC teams. The top eight (full member) teams in the ICC T20 Championship rankings on 8 October 2012 will directly enter the Super 10 stage. The remaining eight teams will compete in the group stage, from which two teams advance to the Super 10 stage
