Brisbane, March 1 (IANS) Zimbabwe skipper Elton Chigumbura was helped off the field Sunday in the 24th over of their cricket World Cup Pool B encounter against Pakistan with a suspected torn quadricep.

He will have a scan Monday to confirm the extent of the injury, reports espncricinfo.

Pakistan batsman and skipper Misbah-ul-Haq had hit the ball past Chigumbura who was stationed at mid-off. The latter attempted a dive but tripped and landed quite heavily on his left knee.

Teammate Chris Ervine was the first to rush in to check on his captain before the physio made his way into the field. A stretcher was called for, but Chigumbura was able to walk off.
