Panaji, June 15। The top three officials of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) were on Wednesday arrested by the Economic Offences Cell of the Goa Police for alleged fraud to the tune of approximately Rs 3 crore.

A police spokesperson said that the association's president Chetan Dessai, secretary Vinod Phadke and treasurer Akbar Mulla were arrested late on Wednesday and have been sent for medical examination.

"The trio has been arrested on charges of cheating, impersonation, forging documents and criminal conspiracy," the spokesperson said.

On June 4, the Economic Offences Cell had filed a first information report against the trio, which alleged that Dessai, Phadke and Mulla had forged signatures and opened bank accounts to siphon off Rs 3.13 crore from GCA accounts.
