The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that T20 World Cup, which was supposed to happen in India, will now be shifted to UAE.

"We will inform ICC today that we are shifting the T20 World Cup to UAE. The dates of the tournament, the ICC needs to decide," the Jay Shah told ANI.

The coronavirus situation in India deteriorated in May which also led to postponing the IPL 2021 midway. Earlier this month, the ICC had given the BCCI a deadline of month-end to inform whether it is in a position to conduct the tournament in the country.

The ICC had, although, clarified that BCCI would keep hosting rights even if it is moved out of India. Along with T20 World Cup, the IPL 2021 will also be held in UAE. The IPL is set to get underway on September 19 and the final is to be played on October 15.

World Cup is likely to be held across four cities - Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Muscat - between October 17 and November 14.
