All-round Wanindu Hasaranga starred Sri Lanka's 70-run win against Ireland in the 8th match of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.

Chasing 172, Ireland lost three wickets inside the powerplay and managed to score 41 runs. Captain Andrew Balbirnie and Curtis Campher tried to keep Ireland in the run chase with a 53-run stand for the fourth wicket but couldn't make much difference.

As soon as Campher got out after scoring 24, Sri Lankan bowlers overpowered the batters and Ireland collapsed to 101/10 from 85/3. Balbirnie top-scorer with 41. 

For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana picked three wickets, Lahiru Kumara and Chamika Karunaratne got two each, and Wanindu Hasaranga & Dushmantha Chameera got 1-1.

After being put in to bat first, Sri Lanka were left struggling 8/3 inside two overs. However, Hasaranga and Nissanka Sri Lanka recovery as the duo added 123 runs from 82 balls for the fourth wicket. 

Hasaranga hit 71 from 47 balls while Nissanka scored 61 from 47 balls as Sri Lanka reached a competitive total of 171/7 in the first innings.

For Ireland, Joshua Little picked four wickets, Mark Adair 2, and Paul Stirling one.
