29th Dec, Port Elizabeth (CRICKETNMORE) - A sudden collapse of West Indian middle order batting put South Africa on top at the end of day four of the second test here in Port Elizabeth.

West Indies resumed from overnight score of 92/2. A record third-wicket stand between Brathwaite (106) and Samuels (101) put the tourist in strong position with the batsmen securing their third and sixth Test centuries respectively.

But once Samuels and Brathwaite departed in successive overs, the tourists collapsed, losing a further five wickets for 42 runs to sink to 275-9, still 142 runs behind South Africa’s first-innings total, before the weather intervened once more.
