Johannesburg, Jan 11 (Cricketnmore): South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn was on Monday ruled out of the third Test against England at the Wanderers ground here.

Steyn missed the second Test at Newlands ground in Cape Town due to a shoulder injury picked up in the first Test at Kingsmead in Durban, a sports website reports.

The home team hoped that he would play at the Wanderers, but he was unable to recover in time.

The third Test starts on Thursday with England currently leading the four-Test series 1-0.

Steyn didn't accompany the South Africa squad in Johannesburg on Monday. He remained in Cape Town to undergo a scan.

Following his latest injury problem, Steyn, South Africa's bowling spearhead with 406 wickets in 82 Tests, will miss his fifth Test out of seven after spending most of the time on the sidelines in their recently concluded tour of India.
