New Delhi, April 30: South Africa spinner Imran Tahir stated it was a special moment when he put on the Chennai Super Kings jersey for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Tahir joined CSK in 2018 and he said he immediately knew he was in elite company.

CSK has been one of the most consistent teams in the history of the cash-rich league as they have won the title three times and progressed into the play-off in every edition they have played in.

"The day I put on the Chennai Super Kings cap was one of the special moments of my life. I never knew I was going to be around special people and (be part) of a special squad," Tahir was quoted as saying by CSK website.

"It's a family really, and I never really felt that in any other franchise anywhere. It's very special, not just to me but close to my family's heart as well.

"My son always sings the CSK song when he is at the ground and when I am playing for Chennai. He just loves it," he added.

In his first season for Chennai, where they were crowned champions for the third time, he played just 6 matches and scalped six wickets. In 2019, Tahir came to the party for CSK as he picked up 26 wickets in 17 matches.

"Every game I played for CSK gave me goosebumps, a really special feeling about it...we play so well as a team," he said.

"We just try to play as hard as we can and win as many games as possible for CSK, enjoy each other's success and that's what makes Chennai such a special team."
