5th August (CRICKETNMORE) - Rangana Herath maiden test hat-trick put Sri Lanka on the top against Australia in the second test in Galle. Australia were 25/3 at stumps on day 2, still requiring 288 runs to win the test with 7 wickets remaining. It is the 42nd instance of a hat-trick in Tests

Herath became the second Sri Lankan after former pacer Nuwan Zoysa to take a Test hat-trick.

It's only the second time a hat-trick has been taken on Sri Lankan soil; the other instance also came in Galle, when Pakistan's Abdul Razzaq achieved the feat in June 2000.

At the age of 38, Herath is the oldest player in history to take a Test hat-trick.
