"Welcome to team BCCI, looking forward to working together for the betterment of cricket!" Thakur tweeted.

Earlier, welcoming Johri on board, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended its warm wishes to the new chief executive officer.

"BCCI extends a warm welcome to CEO Rahul Johri who takes charge from today," the BCCI tweeted.

Johri, who will report to Secretary Ajay Shirke, will be based at the board's Mumbai office, a statement from the board had earlier stated. According to the BCCI rulebook, which in itself is under the scanner, the secretary is vested with all the executive powers.
