WATCH: Pooja Vastrakar Sends Suzie Bates Back To Pavilion Early With A Rocket Throw

NZW v INDW: In the 8th match of the ICC Women's World Cup 2022, New Zealand defeated India by 62 runs and continued their good run against the arch-rivals. However, Indian women seemed full of energy while fielding, and Suzie Bates was made a victim of the same. 

Team India played their second match of the Women's World Cup on Thursday. Indian captain Mithali Raj won the toss and opted to bowl first, and Indian bowling all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar displayed her superior fitness and sent New Zealand batter Suzie Bates back to the pavilion in the 3rd over itself. 

During the 3rd over of the match, and the second over being bowled by Jhulan Goswami, NZ batter Sophie Devine nudged the first delivery softly towards the off-side and promptly called for a single. The NZ batters tried to sneak in a single but Pooja Vastrakar, fielding at covers, charged in, collected the ball and inflicted a rocket throw straight at the stumps at the striker's end and dismissed Suzie Bates.

While talking about the match, New Zealand posted 260/9 in 50 overs after being asked to bat first. Amy Satterthwaite remained the top scorer with her knock of 75 runs off 84 balls with 9 fours. While Amelia Kerr also added 50 runs and wicketkeeper Katey Martin contributed with 41 runs. In reply, India were bowled out for a total of 198/10 in 46.4 overs as Amelia Kerr and Lea Tahuhu picked up 3 wickets each. Harmanpreet Kaur played a praiseworthy knock of 63-ball-71 but it went in vain due to lack of support from other Indian batters.
